As Diwali is festival of Light, it also teaches us to bring light in to you. As
part of the celebrations during Diwali, various different events are organized during
this time. In house or in societies various events that includes singing, dancing,
essay competitions etc. One such event that is famous during this time is Rangoli;
in which new design are drawn with the help of flowers, colors, saw dust also. One
who draws the best Rangoli figures wins the event. At various places dress competitions
are also organized among children, adults also. Mainly people have to wear traditional
cloths like female have Sarees and Males have Kurta Pajama. As per the legends,
since Lord Rama, Sita and Laxman came to Ayodhya on this day. So, people in Ayodhya
welcome their visit by decorating the whole city of Ayodhya with the help of Diyas.
From that time, it is a tradition to keep Diyas all around the house.
the years electricity has developed, but still traditional way of lighting your
houses with help of Diyas is still there. Mustard oil or Pure Ghee is used in lighting
Diyas. Nowadays readymade Diyas with wax as fuel is also there. Floating Diyas are
also there that are used for decoration and placed in water tub as they float over
water. New cuisines competitions are part of these celebrations. And this is the
best part of it. Although nothing sort non vegetarian is prepared, but different
types of vegetarian foods are cooked. Even onion and garlic are not used in making
dishes. For example Pakoda, Kheer etc are common dishes that are made. Some people
wish to prepare sweets at home also like Peda, which is prepared by boiling milk
to semi solid paste and then sugar is added in to it and small quantity is picket
and they are flattened. Although this is not common but in some houses people make
their own Diyas with the help of clay they bought from the market. In many events,
Sher ro Shayari is also done and competitions for the same are also organized.
Poems for Diwali
It's the "Festival of Lights" today,
It's again the day of Diwali,
It's time to dress up folks,
It's time to adorn the thali.
It's the day to light the diyas,
Ignite the rockets and burst crackers,
But it's also the time to be safe,
From the fireworks and all the sparklers.
It's the occasion to throng the temples,
Pray to the Gods and give them offerings,
It's an opportunity to entreat the deities,
To bless us all and rid us of sufferings.
It's the season to pay a visit,
To all our friends and relations,
To hand them over sweets and presents,
Happy Diwali to all of you and.

Diwali Poem 2
Diwali is our splendid chance.
Denied of laughter and smiles for days,
They know not what it is to enjoy,
Can you not share something you have,
Can you not bring them a little joy?
But while you spend a time of joy,
Don't think it's merriment all the way,
Out there wait many of those,
For whom it's no time to be celebrated.
When you can make someone else smile
When you can be someone's ally
you can yourself be glad
That's when you'll have a HAPPY DIWALI!
